The NR546 from the renowned hi-fi manufacturer Soundmaster is a great success. The design of this all-rounder’s case, reminiscent of radios of the ‘30s, will make the heart of anyone with a sense of nostalgia beat faster. But under the classic wooden case hides the most modern hi-fi technology of the 21st century.
The radio system built into the NR546 offers modern DAB+ and FM RDS stereo digital radio reception, and thanks to preset memory slots, you can tune into your favourite stations at the touch of a button. A DAB+/FM antenna is included.
The integrated 2x 5 watt RMS stereo speaker system offers impressive playback quality right across the board, and has plenty of power, even enough for larger living rooms. An equaliser is available for fine tuning, so you can shape the frequency bands, and thus the sound characteristics, to your taste.
No retro hi-fi system would be complete without a record player. The turntable integrated into the top of the NR546 case can play records at 33, 45 and 78 rpm. The magnetic pickup system, designed by the world-renowned microphone and studio equipment manufacturer Audio Technica, does an excellent job of accurately recreating the finest detail and colour in the sound which, although subtle, makes all the difference, especially for classical music.
The CD player integrated in the front of the case supports CD, CD-R/RW and the space-saving CD-MP3 audio format.
The integrated encoder makes it possible to capture audio from the turntable, CDs, radio or Bluetooth by recording it to other media via the USB port. With the track separation function, you can ensure that you do not create a single large music file when recording, but actually separate the music tracks from one another, just like a CD bought in the shops. Very practical!
Other features include a USB port, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, an RCA line out jack, a side-integrated cassette deck, and a well-designed and clearly laid out remote control, which lets you control this retro-looking yet modern hi-fi system. Support for Bluetooth lets you connect your hi-fi equipment to other electronic devices.
